AALIYAH is an american new-jill-swing
chanteuse born AALIYAH DANA HAUGHTON on the 16/01/1979 in
the heart of Brooklyn/New-York, but grow up in Detroit/Michigan.
Her uncle, BARRY HANKERSON, manager of R. KELLY, is
married to GLADYS KNIGHT. AALIYAH appeared in the TV
broadcast musical show Star Search at 10. HANKERSON
presents her to R. KELLY. He produces her first album
"AGE AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A NUMBER" in
1994. Next, AALIYAH will work with severals producers
like TIMBALAND. For movies, she plays in "Romeo must
die". For the soundtrack, she sings her greatest hit
"TRY AGAIN" (#1 in the USA on
the 17/06/2000 for only one week, #5 in Great Britain and
in Germany, #8 in Australia and in Switzerland),
containing samples from ERIC B. AND RAKIM's "I KNOW
YOU GOT SOUL". In the U.K., her best seller single
track is "MORE THAN A WOMAN" (#1 in Great Britain
on the 19/01/2002 for one week).
AALIYAH leaves us the 26/08/2001 about 6 a.m. in a crash
airplane around Abaco/Bahamas.
